Greetings, SNDA family!

My name is Anthony Gordon Jr, and I'm a second-year dental student at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I'm thrilled to be serving as your National Treasurer-Elect for the 2025–2026 National Executive Board!

I'm originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and I graduated from the University of Georgia for undergrad. After undergrad, I spent two years in New Jersey, where I earned my master's degree from Rutgers University. I also proudly hold the honor of being an Eagle Scout, which speaks to my lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community.

Before dental school, I worked as a medical device packaging design engineer during my gap years. I had the privilege of contributing to numerous equipment validations and capital expense projects that supported the development of innovative catheter designs. Many of the devices I helped design played a critical role during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I'm grateful that my work had an impact on others.

Outside of the classroom and clinic, I love to roller skate—I've been rolling to the classic 90's House and R&B music for about eight years now, and I have no plans of slowing down! I live by the motto: work hard, play even harder and trust me that we shall do!

I'm truly zealous to serve this SNDA family with the skills I bring to the table in the role of Treasurer-Elect, especially alongside Kydra Johnson, our outstanding Treasurer. My future goal is to help grow this SNDA family and increase visibility around all the amazing things we do. Wishing you all love, light, and continued success this year—and I can't wait to chop it up again at the most lit National Conference ever!

It is hard to encapsulate what SNDA exactly means to me by using only a few words. During my dental school journey, SNDA has not only helped to make me a better scholar, but it has provided me with the resources and opportunities to make all my dreams into a reality. Through the support of SNDA, I was able to establish the first USNDA chapter on the campus of Michigan State University that provided social, leadership, academic, and volunteer opportunities to its members. I was able to attend the SNDA national conference where I got to make connections, meet fellow colleagues who look like me, and become more enthralled with this career path that I have chosen. SNDA to me is about building lifelong relationships with individuals who become like family. It is about supporting one another to achieve any goals you may have. It is about a community built on the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion. Lastly, SNDA has helped mold me into the thought-provoking student clinician that I try to be today. I have been able to see first-hand where SNDA has taken me so far and I can only imagine where it will take me during the pursuit of my future aspirations.

Being a part of SNDA has undoubtedly been a pivotal aspect of my dental school journey. As I embarked on my first year, nerves tingled about starting this adventure miles away from home, but SNDA swiftly transformed into my comforting home away from home.
